Long-distance transfers at a glance
Geneva sits at a crossroads of Europe. Within a few hours' drive lie great cities in three countries: Lyon and Paris in France, Milan and Turin in Italy, and further south Monaco and the Côte d'Azur. For many trips, a private car with chauffeur is the most direct option: no airport, no station, no connection, and a door-to-door journey with all your luggage.
Geneva Transfer Booking drives travellers, families and executives from Geneva to these cities and back, in comfortable Mercedes vehicles, with breaks planned on the way.
Driving times from Geneva
Approximate times without traffic:
- Lyon (city centre): about an hour and three quarters.
- Turin: about three hours, through the Mont Blanc Tunnel and the Aosta Valley.
- Milan: about four hours, through the Mont Blanc or Great St Bernard tunnels.
- Paris: about five and a half hours, through Burgundy.
- Monaco: about six hours, through Italy and the coast, or through the French Alps.
Each destination with its own page on our site shows prices calculated by our booking engine.
When the car beats the plane or the train
For a trip of two to five hours, the total travel time by plane is often similar to the car: getting to the airport, check-in and security, the flight, the luggage, then the journey into town. A car makes the difference:
- Door to door, from your home or hotel to your exact destination.
- With luggage, children or equipment: no limits per passenger, no carrying.
- For groups, when the cost per person becomes attractive.
- For flexibility: leave when you want, stop where you want.
- For productivity: business travellers work and call in a quiet car.
Geneva to Lyon
The motorway crosses into France and follows the Ain to Lyon. Clients choose this trip for meetings in Lyon, for the gastronomy of the city, for a TGV connection at Lyon Part-Dieu, or for a flight from Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, which has its own page on our site.
Geneva to Milan and Turin
The route crosses the Alps through the Mont Blanc Tunnel or the Great St Bernard Tunnel, then descends the Aosta Valley. Turin lies at the end of the valley, while Milan is reached across the Po plain. Clients travel to Milan for fashion weeks, design fairs, business meetings, opera at La Scala or a flight from Malpensa. Your chauffeur chooses the route according to traffic, weather and tunnel conditions.
Geneva to Paris
The longest of the classic routes crosses into France, then follows the motorways through Burgundy, past Mâcon and Beaune, to Paris. With breaks, it is a full day's trip. Clients choose it for moving house, for travelling with a lot of luggage, for a family trip, or when trains are fully booked. A stop in Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy, makes a pleasant lunch break.
Organising a long trip
- Breaks are planned about every two hours, with a lunch stop on the longest trips.
- The departure time is chosen to avoid rush hour in Geneva and at the destination.
- Stops on the way, for a visit or a meal, can be planned when booking; they add time to the trip.
- The return can be booked at the same time, with a 10% reduction on the round trip.
Borders, tolls and formalities
All these trips cross at least one border: Switzerland to France, or Switzerland to Italy, sometimes through France. These countries are in the Schengen area, but customs and identity checks are possible. Each passenger must carry a valid passport or identity card, and travellers who need a Schengen visa should check that it is valid.
Motorway and tunnel tolls apply on these routes. Ask us when booking how they are included in your quote.
